Hearts all over the country were breaking with the news of the horrific helicopter accident that claimed the lives of nine southern California residents on Sunday, January 26.

St. John Fisher School students joined together for a special prayer service during morning assembly and all St. John Fisher Basketball teams wore gold and purple ribbons this week to remember and honor the young student athletes, their parents and coaches, and the helicopter pilot who perished.  St. John Fisher families generously donated money to support a charity Kobe Bryant and his wife, Vanessa, have supported personally for some time.  My Friend’s Place is a Los Angeles based facility providing services to homeless and near-homeless young people ages 12 to 24.  St. John Fisher School families raised $808 in just two days to support this organization.

For more information about My Friend’s Place or to make a donation, visit www.myfriendsplace.org.

Please continue to pray for the victims and their families: Kobe and Gianna Bryant, Are Zobayan, Sarah and Payton Chester, Christine Mauser, and John, Kerri, and Alyssa Altobelli.
