Catholic Schools Week is a national event held annually to celebrate the benefits of a Catholic education. This week, St. John Fisher School joined Catholic schools all over the country to express their love for God, their country, and their families.
Catholic Schools Week began with the 9am Sunday Mass and a school open house from 1-3pm. Student Council representatives, students, and parents acted as greeters and readers, and our school choir performed. Open house was well attended. We were so happy to see so many parish families!
Our overall theme for the week was “SJF Road Trip.” Students were encourage to wear festive dress representative of various locations and to participate in activities designed to encourage learning, build faith, and strengthen citizenship.
Highlights of the week included literary lounging, the cocoa and cookies fundraiser, a family group meeting in which students made appreciation cards for members of our parish community, and the scouts assembly.
Proceeds from the cocoa fundraiser were combined with funds raised in our Caring Koalas campaign and will be donated to the New South Wales Rural Fire Service. St. John Fisher students are proud to donate $1100 to assist in the emergency and relief efforts in Australia.
